SMSS
is a national organisation with the goal to favour research, education and
propagation of mass spectrometric techniques in a broad sense. SMSS has
members within many different areas, like chemistry, medicine, pharmacy,
pulp and paper, environment, biology, physics and so on., that are active
within universities/colleges, small and large enterprises, institutes,
hospitals and governmental laboratories. SMSS was established 1984. The
Swedish Chemical
Society hosts the SMSS official office. |

On
March 23
2009,
we had our Annual Day of
Mass Spectrometry. The title was ‘Mass Spectrometry for Imaging’
and attracted 70-80 people. New for this year was that the Symposium was
moved form KVA to Karolinska Institute and Nobel Forum,
which
shown to be a great
success.
Coming up:
2010
August 18-20,
2010
14th
NORDIC MASS SPECTROMETRY CONFERENCE
will take place at
the new Conference center in Central Uppsala,
UKK.
This is a meeting that is
organized in one of the Nordic countries every three years. The Swedish
Mass Spectrometry Society (SMSS) has decided to have the meeting in
Uppsala, just north of Stockholm and close to the large Arlanda airport.
This should make it easy for participants to travel to this meeting. The
meeting will have a scientific program including several distinguished
international and national speakers as well as having a large emphasis on
poster and company presentations. Several activities as reception at
Museum Gustavianum and dinner at a traditional Uppsala Student Union
residence will make the conference extra appealing.
We hope that you can come to
Uppsala and take part in the exciting new developments in mass
spectrometry at the same time as you will meet mass spectrometrists from
the Nordic countries.
Annual proceedings
(Årsmöte 2010)
Thursday August 19, at
17.30, UKK, Uppsala. The annual proceedings will be arranged in
connection with
the 14th Nordic MS Conference,

Like previous meetings the upcoming
MPSA will have a broad approach to current protein and proteomics
research. MPSA2010 endeavors to promote the exchange of exciting new
ideas on proteins and to facilitate the application of methods in
protein structure analysis in the pursuit of solutions to biological
problems. The list of MPSA2010 speakers include distinguished
scientists in protein folding in health and disease, protein
evolution and design, protein interactions, proteomics, as well as
other aspects of protein research.

Warren Conference,
at Hindås outside Gothenburg
Warren
Conferences are an international forum for the development of new
tools to be used in glycobiology research. A major focus is on mass
spectrometry, but also glycan databases is a major issue. The
meeting is gathering the international leading experts in these
areas and is very important for discussions on how to promote and
develop new tools necessary for the development of glycobiology
research.
